Antunovich Associates collaborated with Commercial Properties Reality Trust and the State of Louisiana Department of Economic Development on the Baton Rouge Center Re-Development project in Baton Rouge, Louisiana. This exciting mixed-use Re-Development project occupies an entire city block in downtown Baton Rouge, alongside the Mississippi River.

The catalyst for the new Re-Development project is 100,000 square foot, four-story, office building for the IBM Corporation, bringing 1,100 new IBM employees into the heart of downtown Baton Rouge. The mixed-use project includes the construction of a 85-unit residential rental tower alongside the office building 3,000 feet of retail will be constructed along Lafayette Street, and six for-sale urban townhouses will be constructed along Main Street. These active street front uses provide an architectural enclosure around a parking garage base that provide parking for 400 vehicles on four levels.

The architecture of the buildings draws heavily from Baton Rouge’s art deco vernacular, while still expressing a contemporary, high-tech expression for the IBM Office Building. In addition to improving and activating streetscapes on all sides of the Re-Development, a spectacular fourth floor roof garden was developed at the base of the office and residential buildings, allowing office workers and residents a bucolic, interactive view of downtown Baton Rouge and the Mississippi River.
