Old Town Fairfax has been designed to be a village where people live, work, study, and shop in a gracious and lively environment. New project elements will be sympathetic to the rich history of the city which is reflected directly in the twelve historic buildings within the project area.

The retail shops will be a mix of national and local tenants which will enhance the village style of living. The density, appearance and nighttime animation generated by low-rise urban apartments atop the retail will encourage a sense of activity, interest and community.

Materials and project design elements create an image of cohesion and synergy. The extensive use of pavers, street landscaping, signage, hedges and planters will further serve to create an obvious meeting place for the entire extended Fairfax community.

Further phases will include a hotel to service the area's many businesses, tourists and George Mason University visitors, and a future office component to meet the demand created by the expanding county court system, which is headquartered within a block of the project.
