DePaul University Science Building II

Location:Chicago, Illinois
Client: DePaul University

Project description: With the opening of the McGowan Biological and Environmental Science Building in its Lincoln Park Campus in 1998, DePaul University improved its capacity to meet the primary goals of its science curricula: assuring the scientific literacy of all of its students, providing laboratory experiences for all undergraduates, and enhancing specialized education for those who intend to make their careers in the biological and environmental sciences. To complete its long-term plan for science education, Antunovich Associates collaborated with DePaul University to design a second science building, adjacent to McGowan, to house Chemistry and much needed large classroom teaching laboratories. The new facility allows DePaul University to expand space allocated to Biological and Environmental Sciences to accommodate the enrollment growth that has outstripped the capacity of the original McGowan Building.
