The Cork Factory Lofts

Location:Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania
Client: McCaffery Interests
Project description: The Cork Factory Lofts provides the progressive urbanite with a unique living experience. The design concept aims to achieve a complete merging of old and new, popular and unique, historical and modern, life and living.

The design captures the historic feel of each building by both engaging and exposing the original elements when possible, it yields to the warmth of natural maple cabinets and eye opening accent colors throughout. Nestled between the two main residential buildings and peeking out from the shadow of the bridge high overhead, the historic one story brick Engine Room is home to the workout facility, party room, and complex offices. The voluminous interior space, with its exposed steel structure ceiling and clerestory windows above, provides an inviting setting for visitors and small to medium sized get-togethers. A beautiful courtyard will draw you in and the river walk will appeal to your sense of fitness and outdoor adventure.

The Cork Factory Lofts received the distinguished Award of Excellence from the Urban Land Institute for 2009.
