Armani - Oak Street

Location:Chicago, Illinois
Client: Armani

Project description: 25 East Oak Street is located in Chicago’s Gold Coast neighborhood and has served as an impetus for the revitalization of the Rush Street and Oak Street retail corridor.  The four story, 55,000 square foot building was originally built in 1989 for Barneys New York, but after Barneys' relocation to a new flagship store, the space required renovations to meet the needs of its new tenants. The first of these improvements was completed for Emporio Armani in 2012 and was followed by a conversion to a Giorgio Armani store in 2015. Antunovich Associates was the architect of record for both tenant improvements.

Antunovich Associates has also collaborated with several other luxury tenants in converting this building into a multi-tenant retail anchor on Oak Street. In keeping with the co-tenancy expected at this deluxe location, the building has been renovated to include such prominent retailers as Hermes of Paris, Loro Piana, Bonpoint, Moncler, Oliver Peoples, and several others. As part of the building renovation, Antunovich Associates worked closely with the tenants, local community groups, and the City of Chicago Planning Department in developing appropriate signage, awnings, and architectural detailing to maintain a cohesive and vibrant urban retail environment.
