RONALD MCDONALD HOUSE NEAR CENTRAL DUPAGE HOSPITAL

Located in Winfield, Illinois, the Ronald McDonald House near Central DuPage Hospital allows for easy access to all of the care facilities in the western suburbs managed by Central DuPage Hospital, including the Proton Beam Center in nearby Warrenville, Illinois.

The construction phase of this project was completed in eight months and delivered ahead of schedule and under budget. Many of these gains were accomplished by using a panelized framing system fabricated off-site and shipped ready to install. With extensive use of BIM modeling and careful coordination with the general contractor, the project team was able to implement the plumbing, mechanical, and fire protection systems seamlessly into the structures framing before it arrived on site.

This Ronald McDonald House provides a home away from home for the families that are staying there. The first level of the house contains a living room, a large kitchen and dining room, a playroom for children, a TV room, and a home office. There are also three apartments for the full time, live-in managers. The second level of the house contains the 12 guest rooms, including four extended-stay suites, a den, an exercise room, and a laundry facility.
